The G-Technology G-Raid Thunderbolt 8TB Removable is designed for demanding applications and multi-streaming HD, 2K, 4K and HDR workflows. In total, the G-Raid Thunderbolt offers 8TB storage space, consisting of two 4TB 7200 RPM 3.5" hard drives, and features two Thunderbolt 3 ports, a USB 3.1 (USB 3.1 Gen 2) port, and an HDMI port. One of the Thunderbolt 3 ports is used to interface with your host system at speeds up to 440 MB / s. The other Thunderbolt 3 ports can be used to connect five additional devices to your G-RAID. If your system does not have Thunderbolt 3, you can use the 10Gb / s USB 3.1 port.The HDMI port supports HDCP 2.2, HDR and 4K / 60fps video throughput. For whoever wants to use this G-RAID system with their USB Type-A system, a USB Type-C to Type-A cable that supports 10Gb / s USB 3.1 (USB 3.1 Gen 2), 5Gb / s USB 3.0 (USB 3.1 Gen 1) and 480 MB / s USB 2.0 is included.
The two drive bays support RAID 0 and RAID 1. With RAID 0, both drives are merged; This improves read and write speeds, but there is no data redundancy. RAID 1 mirrors the contents of 1 disk to another, making it 1: 1 data redundancy. This is at the expense of the performance. For those who do not need RAID, JBOD is also supported. The G-RAID Thunderbolt 8TB comes formatted for MacOS 10.12+. After reformatting, it can also be used for Windows 8.1 and 10.
